Bishop Krikor: The film is a call for renewal
The Armenian Catholic Archbishop in Egypt, Krikor Augustine Koussa, expressed his admiration for the film "Augustinus, the Son of Her Tears", directed by Dr. Samir Seif, which was shown at the Anba Royce Theater in the St. Egypt and the Middle East.
Archbishop Krikor told Watani, “First, St. Augustine is my patron saint, and I did studies about him when I was at the university in Rome. Secondly, the film left a great spiritual and cultural impact on me and the audience, especially those I met after the meeting. The film was a call for renewal, especially in this context.” The period we live in, the period of the great forty-day fast, and a call to read the Holy Book and arm yourself with the virtue of humility and the search for the truth.
And he continued: "Fourth, the film highlighted the role of mothers in raising their children with the correct Christian education, and this is what Saint Monica did. She followed the steps of her son to reassure him and accompany him so that he would not remain immersed in sin, and clearly encouraged him to accept the sacrament of marriage so that he and his mistress would not remain in a state of adultery." With her prayers and tears, she led him to holiness, and that is why Augustine was called the son of tears, the tears of mothers who desire a happy and pioneering life for their children. And he concluded by saying: “I repeat with Saint Augustine: Oh God, our heart will not rest until it returns to you, that is, to the truth, to inner peace, to humility, simplicity, love, and holiness.”
